WHAT IS CBD?
SIP ON THIS | physician facts
SOTA CBD is naturally derived from organically grown hemp to produce the highest quality CBD and maximize therapeutic benefits. So, what is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a molecule found in the cannabis plant. CBD can act as a neurotransmitter, and it is also shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. CBD is a safe, non-addictive substance.
CBD is closely related to another medicinally active cannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the compound that produces “the high” associated with cannabis and is found in the marijuana plant. These are the two medicinally beneficial components of cannabis that have been widely studied by scientists.
CBD oil is widely used as a supplement. It is an all-natural, essential oil that is typically extracted from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant.
Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. However, marijuana contains larger amounts of THC, thereby producing a “high”. Hemp contains minimal amounts of THC (0.3% or less). Consequently, hemp does not cause a “high” and is not considered to be a drug. All SOTA CBD products are derived from the hemp plant and will always contain 0.3% of THC or less.
